Stable Schools

Our students deserve stable schools. HTEC is fighting to end at-will termination and give staff the job security they need.

Right now, a major difference at the bargaining table has to do with employment status and discipline and dismissal. Currently, teachers can be fired at any moment – with or without reason, with or without notice. We have seen the instability this creates for our students, and as a union we are trying to change that.

What We’re Proposing

HTEC is proposing clear protections for staff: a fair and transparent system of evaluation and discipline, due process if someone is unfairly fired, and an end to at-will termination. Most importantly — our students deserve an end to unnecessary staff turnover. Stable staff means stable schools.
